Annual Overdose Awareness, Prevention & Remembrance event
Our Annual Overdose Awareness, Prevention, and Remembrance event is a heartfelt gathering dedicated to honouring those we've lost, raising awareness, and offering support to our community. The event includes touching memorial activities, a remembrance video honouring our loved ones who have passed. An Elder leads the ceremony with a smudging ritual, creating a sacred space for healing and reflection, followed by a powerful drumming walk to raise awareness. The evening concludes in a candlelight vigil, where participants come together to reflect, share stories, and remember their loved ones.
Additionally, the event offers vital naloxone training, empowering individuals with the knowledge and skills to respond to opioid overdoses. The resource fair will also feature organizations like Cocaine Anonymous, the Central Alberta Regional Victim Serving Society (Victim Services), Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) both Leduc and County of Leduc, all offering important resources and support in overdose awareness and prevention, addiction, and mental health services. This event serves as a testament to the strength and unity of our community, fostering hope and connection while providing the tools to save lives.
